Vance Elliott, 77, lies on his bed naked listening to the radio in his room, while pictures of some of the prostitutes he has slept with along with other scenes from porno magazines he likes, hang on his wall, at the Baldwin House, located on 6th street in San Francisco, Calif. The Baldwin House is a Single Room Occupancies (SRO) residential hotel where more then 200 poverty stricken residents live. Central City San Francisco, which includes all of the Tenderloin, 6th Street, and parts of SOMA, is one of the most impoverished areas of the city, where hundreds of economically disadvantaged people live in cramped living conditions with little opportunity to create better lives for themselves. There are many people here who are both mentally and physically sick but are not receiving the care they need. In Elliott's old age, he said he has decided to live his life the way he wants, and chooses to have sex with prostitutes and wear no clothing as often as he can.
