General Members Meeting

6:45PM-Meeting called to order by President Susan Walsh. Quorum not in attendance.

Election of New Officers:
Nomination Committee results were presented. Nominees were: President-Susan Walsh, Vice-President-Doug Wilkes, Treasurer-Jeff Lawrence, Secretary-Bob Pearson, Stills E-Board seat-Susan Biddle.

The room was polled for further nominees. Nominees for the AV seat were presented, and included Sean McGarvey, Stuart Cohen and Ed Eaves. Don Watrud is not up for re-election to the AV seat. As there was no quorum, nominations were not ratified. Nominations will be presented again at the next General Membership Meeting.

Treasurer’s Budget report:
Jeff Lawrence reported that Nikon and Fuji had renewed their sponsorships for 2003. The current balance in the account was approximately $140,000. WHNPA has taken in approximately $37,000 in ad sales for the 2002 book. Copies of the complete treasurer’s report are available from Jeff. Please email him at jlawrence@krtinfo.com.

Video:
Dennis Brack presented a DVD of sample short movies taken on the Sony Digital 24P Camera.

Misc:
There was a great deal of discussion on attracting new sponsors, with the E-Board members asking general membership for help in finding new sponsorships for this year.

Susan Walsh proposed the creation of a committee to work more closely with the local police department during major events in DC, such as the IMF meetings, which routinely bring along thousands of protesters.

The next General Membership meeting will be held on 11 March, 2003 at the Channel 5 offices at 5151 Wisconsin Avenue at 6:30PM
