Pleasant St.\, NW\,\nWashington\, DC 20010\n*The gallery is located on the second floor of the building (right above the ice cream shop) \nYou may visit during regular gallery hours which are: \nFriday: 7-9 p.m.\nSaturday: 12-5 p.m.\nSunday: 2-5 p.m. \nAll other times by appointment with gallery owner\, Jason Hamacher. \nhttps://www.lostorigins.gallery/about \nOpening Date Reception: Oct. 8 – 7-10 p.m.\nClosing Date Reception: Nov. 12 – 7-10 p.m. \nPlease watch the WHNPA Facebook and website: www.whnpa.org events page for the Eventbrite sign-up link and further details. \n \nAbout the exhibit:*\nThe WHNPA 100 Years of ‘The Eyes of History®’ project attempted to curate some of the most compelling\, indelible\, or seldom seen photographs. \nDuring the COVID-19 pandemic when most businesses were either closed or forced to work remotely\, member volunteers of the WHNPA spent some of their rare free time sorting through boxes in our storage warehouse\, that contained uncatalogued and undigitized images that were taken by WHNPA members over the last 100 years. \nOur volunteers found seldom seen images of U.S. Presidents captured by our members over the last 10 decades- along with thousands of negatives\, original prints from previous years’ ‘Eyes of History®’ still and video contest newsreel tapes\, award books\, newsletters\, and scrapbooks. \nLetters from past U.S. Presidents written to members\, inauguration blueprints\, signed dinner programs from senators and photos of the annual awards dinner that included entertainer’s Barbra Streisand\, Liberace\, Bob Hope and presidents and other dignitaries were also found and archived. An historical essay was also written to attempt to document some of the interactions that WHNPA members had with their subjects over the last 100 years. This was published in the 2021 and 2022 ‘Eyes of History®’ award books\, \n*Some of these historic artifacts will be on display at the closing reception. \nTo download a copy of the poster\, please click here.

SUMMARY:Puerto Rico after the Hurricane: Turning a breaking news assignment into an interactive multimedia project
