The White House News Photographers Association is pleased to offer a members-only drone operation training on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 10am until 2pm. The training, run by Team Alaris in La Plata, Maryland, will introduce participants to the basics of flying small unmanned aircraft (sUAS), including a brief overview of material on the FAA’s Part 107 exam. No prior experience is necessary. The workshop will be limited to 20 participants.
Alaris is focused on unmanned aircraft training, software development and integration in the commercial UAS market. With expertise in manned and unmanned aviation, aircraft systems integration and engineering, and aircraft testing, Alaris brings these distinctive skills together to actively shape the UAS industry.
Joe Piazza of Team Alaris, the training arm of the company, will lead the workshop. Born into a military family, Joe grew up all over the world. He settled in Southern Maryland with his wife and was hired by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office where he served in the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and the Special Operations Division. He began flying drones in 2012 and was instrumental in forming the Charles County Sheriff’s Office’s sUAS program. Joe is certified as a FAA Part 107 UAS pilot and remote pilot instructor.
