A video or still photojournalist; sound or lighting technician; photography or assignment editor; bureau chief or director, employed full time by a recognized news-gathering organization or self-employed engaged in any of the above-listed occupations. Applicant must reside in the Washington metro area and derive his or her main source of income from covering news in Washington.

• Current passport style photo of applicant’s full face
• Letter from current employer (or freelance client) stating your employment classification
• Scan of your working press credentials
Yearly dues of $95.00 + $3.25 processing fee per membership
A member who does not meet active member status. Associate members may participate in all functions of the Association except hold an elective office or chair a committee, or compete in the annual photo contest.

Yearly dues of $75.00 + $3 processing fee per membership
Persons who have retired from the active business of newsgathering but are not eligible for Life Membership are entitled to all privileges of an Active Member.
Yearly dues of $25.00 + $3 processing fee per membership
A full-time university or college student studying photojournalism or a high school student who is a photographer for a school publication. Student members do not have to reside in the Washington metropolitan area.
Requirements for College Student:
• Completed online application form
• Two letters of recommendation on letterhead from photojournalism professors and/or department head
• Current passport style photo of applicant’s full face
Requirements for High School Student:
• Completed online application form
• A letter of recommendation from a student adviser of faculty member stating that the student is currently involved with photographic activities (yearbook, student newspaper, etc.) at applicant’s school.
• Current passport style photo of applicant’s full face
Yearly dues of $25.00 + $3 processing fee per membership
