Puerto Rico after the Hurricane: Turning a breaking news assignment into an interactive multimedia project

October 28, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

$12 – $18

The White House News Photographers Association and World Press Photo are pleased to co-host an event featuring award winners from each of our respective contests. The Washington Post’s Whitney Leaming, Zoeann Murphy and Arelis Hernández traveled to Puerto Rico to document the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, initially focusing on the breaking news of the event. They then turned the assignment into a stunning multimedia project by creating in-depth character-driven video narratives that paired with text, drone footage, 3D modeling and other elements.
Please join us at World Press Photo Exhibition 2018 at Dupont Underground in Washington, DC as Hernández, Leaming and Murphy discuss how they turned a news assignment into a powerful, award-winning project. WHNPA members get $5 off the general admission price of $18 ($12 for students, educators, active duty military, persons with disabilities, seniors 65+). Please use the code “WHNPA” at check out for the discount. Your ticket includes entry to the World Press Photo Exhibition 2018.
