Sounds of shelling on the outskirts of the city echo on her walls and an airstrike recently hit the neighborhood.

GEN LANGLEY PROMOTION: U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Michael E. Langley was promoted to the rank of General, Aug. 6, 2022 in Washington, D.C. Langley’s promotion marks the first time a Black Marine has served as a four-star general in the 246-year history of the Marine Corps. Langley will serve as the commander of U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany, and will command all U.S. military forces in Africa.
